Trend & Tendency

Maison et Objet show in Paris

-treasures of curiosity & astonishment, such as these curiosity display cabinets,
-treasures of rarities & singularity…etc…etc…

The trend is mainly these charming interiors with opulent flowers decors in abundance, precious materials, bright colours and gorgeous drawing with the know-how of the century of lights. The intimate salon from province is sought with its painted mural panelling in soft neutral colours highlighting the warmth from the tissues of deep sofas and armchairs with inimitable comfort, and the fantasy of a profusion of colourful cushions matching with the lamp-shades of the lights carefully arranged to be reflected in large mirrors with the charm of yesteryear.
Regarding fabrics and accessories, it is the return of bright colours including orange, with lots of prints and stripes giving a cheerful, optimistic and light atmosphere.
It is also the advent of silk, with a lot of patterns and smartly tones, passionately. These shades, are sublimed, exalted, valorised by the silk.
All this is happily married with mixtures of linen and cotton in natural tones accentuating the material contrast and the visual amazement.

There is a real avalanche of colours: sunset yellow, pink raspberry, rose Bengal, blue and fresh green, deep plum, even if the taupe and gray Trianon still work hard. The tone on tone is also very trendy for the design of the tissues, which further enhances the effects of material and relief. Also on the program in 2012 : the floral jacquards, Indian embroidery and red ottomans. With this in mind, we note a successful particular effect for a current urban decor made in shades of grey-brown variegated of vitaminised mandarin. It is the apotheosis of soft contrasts.
This year is the promotion of the furniture of character enhanced by a profusion of fabrics, wallpaper and rich passementerie in warm tones where everyone will love to curl up, dreaming of distant voyages, around a good fire in the mantel.

(Next Maison & Objet will be in September 2012 from 7th to 11th.)

The art market: an anti-crisis remedy (Inspired by an interview with Hervé Poulain, the auctioneer, Artcurial)

How to invest wisely and having fun?

There are a multitude of things became very accessible. The period antique furniture, has fallen so much that he can not fall lower and is usually awarded at auction to a third of its value compared to fifteen years ago. So it's time to buy. You can buy Louis XV and Louis XVI furniture at the same price as plastic or plywood in supermarkets!
This furniture will always keep its aesthetic qualities, its historical patina, the know-how of the cabinetmaker, and therefore its permanent charm.
The same applies to the painting where minor artists of the nineteenth century, and some artists of the twentieth are still undiscovered and where it is still possible to dig up the jackpot!
It is certainly a “tranquil investment” that preserves your capital without promise of great wealth, but with the pleasure of enjoying it without taking risks. To really get rich, we must engage in contemporary art where the most surprising gains are possible, provided, however, to be very interested by being well advised by a specialist, because some artists being at the pinnacle can fall by the wayside in a short time ... One does not become a connoisseur, it is a new language very different from the classical aesthetic. The "beautiful" does not make sense; what matters is the challenge, the surprise, the concept, the kitsch... we must educate the eye, learn and listen good advice.
Whatever your choice, to bet on Art is an adventure that brings emotion and knowledge. This
is rewarding every time, mainly for the spirit!
